Frisian Flag 2014 is a two weeks exercise that was held at Leeuwarden Air Base from 31 March until 11 April. Most of the participants of Frisian Flag arrived on Friday 28th of March at Leeuwarden. Fighters and some transport arrived from Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, Portugal, Spain and of course the Netherlands.

The Spanish Air Force participated for the first time with the EF2000. Ala 11 operates the EF2000 from their home base Móron. The C.16-25/11-05, which is seen here, was to close behind a colleague on the approach and had to throttle up to go around for another approach. A KC-130H with serial TK.10-12/31-54 from Ala 31 at Zaragoza was the support aircraft for the Spanish delegation. It was also the first time that the Spanish Air Force operated with this amount of aircraft outside Spain.

The Belgian Air Component arrived with five F-16AMs from the 2nd Tactical Wing at Florennes. One of them, F-16AM, with serial FA-121, is seen here on final approach carrying a AN/AAQ-33 Sniper XR Pod (mounted at station 5 right,  at the air-intake), a AN/ALQ-131 pod under the centreline and three dummy AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles. The AIM-9 Sidewinder is hidden at station two, behind the external fuel tank that is mounted on station four at the left wing.
The Lufwaffe (German Air Force) participated with a large amount of fighters; a total of ten EF2000 Eurofighters arrived at Leeuwarden. Among them were eight from the Nörvenich based Taktische Luftwaffengeschwader 31 “Boelcke” (TaktLwG 31”B”) and two from the Taktische Luftwaffengeschwader 74 which is based at Neuburg. Three of them arrived on the Friday. EF2000 with serial 30+76 is seen here just seconds from touch down at runway 05.
